I had a free caricature contest a few weeks backs…. And he is the winner… Brandon. All you had to do is leave a comment leave a compelling comment (preferably funny) or a brief story why or someone think I should draw you or another person you would like to nominate. Maybe you’re in the dog house with your woman and you think a cartoon will melt there heart ? Maybe you need to cheer up some stupid kid in a hospital…who knows? After just bringing twins into the world with my wife, and upping the kid count in the house to 3 kids under the age of 1.5 years old, I had to take a 3rd shift job to make life work and pay the bills.

My wife stays home with 3 screaming, pants shitting, babies while I try not to fall asleep at a job that goes on while most people are sleeping

She misses me and a funny little caricature to look at will cheer her up while she toils away feeding these little monsters…alone….while im working

… + I got a pretty big penis for a white guy, so I should win something for that right? I promise ,in advance, that the caricature won will in no way highlight my penis in any way shape or form.

1. email or im me at “joshuahooper” [gtalk] to make sure i’m not too busy (i draw pictures for a living, sometimes it gets hectic!)

2. paypal a down payment of $50 to Joshua@pixel-pimp.com just so i know you are serious.

3. email over some reference photos (preferably 5 or more w/ good facial expressions). so i know what the heck you look like, both face and body shots. specify any accessories, colors, pose, etc..  the more details you provide the better!

4. once that is approved, i’ll send over a low resolution watermarked jpg, and if everything looks good you paypal the final $100

6. from here i’ll email over a high resolution jpg, printable up to 18″ x 24″

Allot of time with artists, I find paradox between artistic ‘direction’ and creative expression. Some people you give them to ‘specifications’ and they will fill confined by the limitation, and other breed of artist if you give them unlimited creative freedom they won’t know where to begin. I personally can roll either way, but I find when I’m commissioned for work, and people say, ” I trust your judge… GO NUTS!,” I wonder if they know what they are asking for, which was the case here. My only specification was ” scare them with weirdness” and give license to do ANYTHING, so I thought!

Originally the LOVED THIS, but I think they showed it to their bald, head granny, and I reckon they concluded this was TOO MUCH and not becoming of  young rock band! Either way, I think it’s pretty EPIC, and that’s all that matters.

Pixel-Pimp.com [Redux]

For the past week, I have been designing , illustrating and laboring over a new splash page for my website.  Splash screen is a term used to describe an image that appears while a computer program is loading. It may also be used to describe an introduction page on a website.

Now, that I’ve got a hold on it and it’s nearly complete… I’ve realize WHY do I need a splash page. I hate when websites have useless splash page. The only thing worst than a flash page is a stupid Flash intro.  If you have A flash intro delete it because people only look at it long enough to press the “skip button. Though my works is super Awesome, I have to admit I can’t use this. Sometimes you gotta know when to hold…and gotta know when to fold em. I’m folding on the splash page . What a waste of time, but did give me some ideas on how to actually customize my wordpress. I guess I might salvage some of this work for other things, but here is what I’m working with. thanks. - Joshua
