JUNO: Totally Badass Submission

Here is my submission for Greedmont Park Art Competition.

My Submission: Greedmont Parks BIG BADASS EPIC ART CONTEST

Greedmont Park is now doing our first monthly artist competition to find some badass artists who know how to murder it creatively, and what better way to find some real killers than through some  healthy competition. This is a sucka free competition. The themes are meticulously designed to weed out suckas and jive ass turkeys who bring shame to the game, while  bringing out epic creativity from awesome  visionaries who don’t simply phone it in.

Before you submit your  artwork, or even get started, ask yourself  ”WOULD CHUCK NORIS APPROVE OF MY ARTWORK?” Is your art good enough that Samuel L. Jackson would give you a fist pound? Would Rambo hang it on his wall? If you answered NO to any of those questions, then you aint’ bringing the thunder.

[Theme:] Take a sissy, lovely dovey chick flick, from the selected list, and  ’REMIX’ it into a “BADASS GRINDHOUSE” styled movie poster.  Simple! The works will be judge on creativity, awesomeness,  execution but mostly how BADASS they are. + For more Information!

WTF, Marc Maron

marcmaron.com

I’ve been following the podcast WTF with Marc Maron since its inception a few months back on the internet. It’s a weekly podcast that allows Marc to showcase his unique brand of comedy that borders on black comedy to satirical observations with a little political commentary sprinkled on top. The great things about podcasts in generally is they are as regulated to the degree of the Wild west, any shit flys on them. Podcast land is generally where comedic personalities can be unleashed and go to work  like rabid pitbull(kinda alike what I fantasize mainstream media would do!) Itunes is perfect place to see mild mannered comedian that love from tv  present their unique perspective on everything raw and unfiltered. It’s a beautiful thing, and Marc Maron is part of it.

I saw that he was coming to Atlanta to do a gig at The Laughing Skull Lounge, so I decide to buy a ticket and check it out. And I got the great idea to show my admiration to do a illustration of Marc. Boom! I guess you’d have to follow to the podcast to truly get the greatest of my illustration.

Live Fly or Die Lame

I do allot of revisionist work, where I take existing designs or illustration that are lacking POP and make em’  Juicy! That’s what I do. I guess it’s the digital equivalent of the the Tattoo cover up. Give me what ever, and I’ll convert the wack, for lack of better words.  Here is a example of that process.

Pixel-Pimp.com [Redux]

For the past week, I have been designing , illustrating and laboring over a new splash page for my website.  Splash screen is a term used to describe an image that appears while a computer program is loading. It may also be used to describe an introduction page on a website.

Now, that I’ve got a hold on it and it’s nearly complete… I’ve realize WHY do I need a splash page. I hate when websites have useless splash page. The only thing worst than a flash page is a stupid Flash intro.  If you have A flash intro delete it because people only look at it long enough to press the “skip button. Though my works is super Awesome, I have to admit I can’t use this. Sometimes you gotta know when to hold…and gotta know when to fold em. I’m folding on the splash page . What a waste of time, but did give me some ideas on how to actually customize my wordpress. I guess I might salvage some of this work for other things, but here is what I’m working with. thanks. - Joshua

It’s all about that JAZZ, mane!

I’m really looking forward to starting this new project with Russel Gunn,  two time nominated contemporary Neo-bop jazz musician, known primarily for his awesome trumpet playing. He is a regular at Atlanta’s  ChurchillgroundsJazz Bar and generally holds down Thursday nights. He asked me to design the cover art for his upcoming album, and looks to be a promising and exciting adventure. I’m very excited, and he is a guy who let’s creatives do what they do best. Respect.
